A heat pump does not look very different and can perform the same functions as a conventional gas or oil boiler i.e. space heating and hot water production. However it does it much more efficiently, using most of its heating energy from free renewable sources.

A heat pump can achieve energy efficiencies of over 500% - reducing the energy consumption of a building by 60-75% compared with that of an efficient oil or gas boiler system. This means that your energy savings will rapidly result in the recovery of the initial cost of installation of the heat pump system.

How the Heat Pump works

The operation of a heat pump for a heating system is quite simple and works using the same scientific principle as a refrigerator - only in reverse. Even at low temperatures air contains heat/energy. A heat pump system simply transfers low-grade energy from the outside air to a refrigerant gas. This preheated gas is compressed into a high temperature vapour; allowing the transmission of the energy to water and hence generating high-grade energy for heating.

This innovative technology simply creates more heat energy for less electrical input. It's that simple!

New Builds & Retrofitting

Renewable heat pumps for space heating are particularly well suited to new houses where high levels of insulation and low temperature heating systems result in low heating demand. In buildings with lower standards of insulation the heat pump can still provide 80% of your annual heating needs.

Space Heating Costs Spiralling

Space heating is one of the largest reoccurring outgoings of any home or business.

Most homes in Ireland use either oil or gas heating or an electric storage heating system both of which can be extremely inefficient with some of them having efficiency as low as 70%. The most modern gas and oil boilers have efficiencies of around 97% and only in optimal conditions. In addition the cost of fossil fuels is increasing year on year. We offer 2 main solutions for space heating which combine a number of heat pump revolutionary products.
  • Supplementary System is a combination of a conventional boiler & a heat pump. In this type of system the heat pump is designed to provide in the region of 80% of the heat load requirement for the building. The system will select the most cost effective heat production method depending on the climatic conditions.
  • A Stand-alone System has been designed to provide the entire heat load for the building without any conventional back up. This type of system is suitable for standard radiators and is also ideal for underfloor heating and / or aluminium radiators. When installed along with a bespoke control panel this system will yield optimal running costs.
